Martha Spiers, Executive Director for Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), will share insights on CVIM, highlighting their history, the community they serve, and the necessity of free clinics in our area. Additionally, Martha will discuss CVIM’s partnership with Clackamas Community College and its role in educating the next generation of healthcare workers.

Martha Spiers is a clinical social worker who retired in 2017 from a 30-year career in behavioral health crisis services systems management and development. In 2012, she opened a trauma-informed, low-barrier crisis walk-in clinic for Clackamas County, centering the experience and expertise of people who experience psychosis.
Martha became the ED for Clackamas Volunteers in Medicine in 2018. Following a passion for healthcare access she has been inspired by the synchronistic partnership with Clackamas Community College to bring primary care services to under-resourced populations, and culturally responsive training to new healthcare professionals.
Martha received her BA from Dartmouth College (Hanover NH) and her Masters in Social Work from Simmons College (Boston MA). She lives in Oregon City with her family.
