Bruce Erik Bennett of Aurora Aircraft LLC will delve into the history, current operations, and future of the Aurora Airport. With his family’s involvement in the land and business at the airport dating back to 1968, Bruce offers a unique perspective. Drawing on his experience as a pilot since 1973, he will also clarify common misconceptions about the airport’s role and operations.
Using photographs, an airport diagram, and other visuals, Bruce will provide an engaging overview that offers a virtual “tour” of the airport, highlighting its significance to the region and its evolving contributions over the years.

Bruce Erik Bennett, of Aurora Aircraft LLC, brings decades of aviation expertise to his work at the Aurora Airport. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate with ratings for Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Airplane Single Engine Land, and a Commercial Pilot rating for Airplane Single Engine Sea. He is also a Certified Flight Instructor in Airplane Instrument, Airplane Single Engine, and Airplane Multi-Engine.
Bruce’s extensive qualifications include jet type ratings in several aircraft models, including the Beechjet, Citation CJ, Falcon 10/100, Phenom 300, Hawker, and Premier Jet, with single-pilot certifications for select aircraft. He has amassed an impressive 13,966 total flight hours, with over 10,000 hours as Pilot in Command, nearly 5,100 turbine hours, and extensive experience as a Phenom 300 captain.
Career Highlights:
• Aurora Aviation Inc. (1981–2018): Served as Chief Flight Instructor, Charter Pilot, Chief Pilot/Director of Operations, and FAA-Designated FAR-135 Company Check Pilot. He operated as a captain and instructor on multiple jet models, including the Premier Jet and Phenom 300.
• Aurora Aircraft LLC (2018–Present): Currently serves as Phenom 300 Captain and Manager, working as a contract pilot.
• Early Career: Held positions as an Aircraft Electrician for US Army Aviation Inc., an Aircraft Instrument and Avionics Technician at FlightCraft Inc. and Airport Electronics, while completing his flight training at Aurora Airport.
Bruce’s deep connection to Aurora Airport spans from his early days as a student pilot in 1973 to his leadership roles in aviation training, charter operations, and aircraft management.
Bruce has lived in Sherwood, Oregon, since 1990 with his family.
