Club Meeting: PDX Housing Solidarity Project

Allison Brinkhost, Love Jonson, and Charlie Collier from PDX Housing Solidarity Project will discuss their work redistributing wealth to address racialized disparities in homeownership. Their presentation will explore Portland’s history of exclusionary housing policies and highlight real stories of how their initiative has helped Black and Indigenous first-time homebuyers. Since 2021, their efforts have leveraged over $1.7 million, supporting 18 homebuyers and gaining recognition from OPB, Trusthout, and The Philadelphia Citizen’s “Ideas We Should Steal” list.

Allison Brinkhost, Love Jonson, and Charlie Collier from PDX Housing Solidarity Project will share how their collective of Portland-based organizers is working to redistribute wealth and address racialized disparities in homeownership. Recognizing that homeownership and intergenerational wealth are closely linked, they will begin with a brief history of racism in Portland’s housing policies and city planning. They will then highlight stories and examples of how members of PDX Housing Solidarity Project have facilitated wealth redistribution to support Black and Indigenous first-time homebuyers—demonstrating how individual actions can contribute to systemic change.

Since its founding in 2021, PDX Housing Solidarity Project has helped leverage over $1.7 million, supporting 18 first-time homebuyers in Portland. Their work has been featured by OPB, Trusthout, and The Philadelphia Citizen’s “Ideas We Should Steal” list.

The Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. Guests are welcome.
