Christine Popoff, assistant superintendent for rehabilitative services at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, and Josie O’Leary, director of correctional rehabilitation, will give a presentation on how the facility was managed differently during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Christine earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Carleton College (Northfield, Minnesota) and a Master’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Sydney in Australia, which she received after being awarded an Ambassadorial Scholarship from Rotary. She has worked at the Oregon Department of Corrections since March 1997, with men and women, on the west and east side of the state. She served as Assistant Director of HR, superintendent at two men’s facilities, and as Assistant Superintendent of Security and now CRU at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility; She was the Program Services Manager at CCCF in late 1999 and helped open the minimum security facility and the medium security facility at the prison. Christine is close with her family, her parents are in Newberg and she and her sister live in Keizer. She lives with her cat Rooney, and is the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers fan ever!
Josie was introduced to the Oregon Department of Corrections as a volunteer through the Portland State University internship program. Josie began her career as a contracted treatment counselor for an Alternative Incarceration Program at Columbia River Correctional Institution in 2013. In 2015, Josie accepted a position as a Correctional Counselor and was promoted to the Correctional Case Management Coordinator in 2017 where she worked to implement case management standards and delivered a variety of trainings to correctional professionals. In November of 2021, Josie joined the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility as the Correctional Rehabilitation Manager. She holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Criminology and Psychology from Portland State University. Josie is a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and is a trainer for a variety of corrections topics with a passion for Gender Responsive practices. She recently presented at the American Parole and Probation Association conference in Chicago, where she also tried deep-dish pizza for the first time. She gives it a thumbs up and did get a second slice!
