Club Meeting: Longview’s Freedom Flags

Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 12:00 pm1:00 pm

Bob Gregory of the Longview Noon Rotary Club will give a presentation on the club’s Freedom Flags project, which allows residents to have an American flag displayed at their curb on four holidays — Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day — for a $50 annual subscription fee. The program covers its costs and then some, raising money for other club programs, while keeping the club visible in the Longview community. Bob will explain how it works and the outcomes it delivers.

Bob has 35 years in City and County local governments serving in positions as City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Director of Public Works, and Civil Engineer. He has a diverse background in all disciplines of municipal government including public works, finance, information technology, public safety, parks and recreation, library, fleet operations, transit, and airport services. Bob retired from local government in 2014, last serving as City Manager for City of Longview. Since January 2015, Mr. Gregory started a consulting services firm providing owner representative services for planning, project management, and government affairs. He has assisted developers and private property owners with managing master planning, entitlements, economic feasibility studies, and marketing strategies for residential, commercial, and industrial sites. Bob graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1979 with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and is a registered engineer in Washington State. He is married to Janey Gregory, has two married daughters and 5 grandchildren. Bob spends much of his time now at their cabin at Lake Mayfield Washington, travelling, and continues to be actively involved in the Longview community in several Boards and Longview Noon Rotary. He also served as past president of Kelso Rotary, and is two times a Paul Harris Fellow.

The Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. The club is holding hybrid “Virtual In Person” (VIP) meetings. People may attend in person, or they may use Zoom (http://www.tinyurl.com/Rotary97070). Guests are welcome. Masks are required for in-person attendance except when eating, drinking or speaking at the microphone. For more information, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com.
