Melissa Swenson, president of CEDR Digital Corps, will speak on the organization’s efforts to connect disaster victims on the fly with individuals and organizations that can help them. CEDR stands for Crowd Emergency Disaster Response. The organization’s volunteers serve as Digital Helpers During Disasters. This innovative all-volunteer team helps to close the information gaps that open during disasters. Since 2018, CEDR has responded to hundreds of disasters across the United States, sharing information on evacuations, shelters, and recovery resources seen millions of times across social media. During major incidents, CEDR participates in the FEMA Crowdsourcing Unit, providing information used in the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC).
