We’ve been taught to believe that what’s important to us about our work is different from what’s important in our personal lives. Guest speaker Deborah Allen will make the case that one’s professional and personal values can be aligned in both settings. She will explain how this creates opportunities to have more meaning and fulfillment in work, relationships and all aspects of life.
Deborah Allen began her career teaching art in K-8 schools. Over time, art was defunded and her classroom became a closet, so she became a second grade teacher until her patience ran dry and her nerves were shot. Deborah was an operational leader in educational and art nonprofits and government agencies for over 15 years specializing in human resources, learning and development, and mentoring and coaching. With a pandemic layoff in 2020, she wanted to find more fulfillment in her work and launched Talk Steady, a leadership coaching business for women. Deborah holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as a Master of Education degree. She is a Society of Human Resources-certified professional (or SHRM-CP) in human resources work, holds an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation, and is certified by the Academy of Leadership Coaching and NLP (neurolinguistic programming) as a as a leadership coach.
