Fire. Smoke. Ice. Heat. It’s been a rough year or so for Oregon, with several weather-related disasters hitting the state’s landscape in ways seldom seen before. And no one is more intimately connected with Oregon’s landscape than farmers. Nurseries are the largest segment in Oregon agriculture with more than $1 billion in sales annually. As executive director of the Oregon Association of Nurseries, Jeff Stone represents the industry before the public and before the state’s elected leaders. It’s his job to marshal resources, build coalitions and help solve problems facing the industry. Jeff will speak about the disasters of last 12 months, how they have affected growers, and what is being done — or not being done — to assist this valuable sector of the Oregon economy that contributes to the green landscape, both in this state and nationwide.
NOTE: Previously scheduled speaker Anne-Louise Sterry had to postpone her presentation due to a family matter and we will make every effort to reschedule her for a future date.
