Portland bluesman Curtis Salgado will lead off the 2015 Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts on Thursday, July 23. These concerts are held on four consecutive Thursday evenings in late July and early August in Town Center Park.
All concerts are free, thanks to the generous support of numerous sponsors as well as the City of Wilsonville Tourism Matching Grant program. The full schedule is as follows:
July 23: Curtis Salgado (blues and soul) at 6:30 p.m., with opening act Rob Rainwater at 5:30 p.m.
July 30: Cloverdayle (modern country) at 6:30 p.m., with Michele Van Kleef and Tim Ellis doing an opening set at 5:30 p.m.
August 6: Johnny LImbo and the Lugnuts (classic rock n’ roll) at 6:30 p.m., with opening act Christina Cooper at 5:30 p.m.
August 13: Radical Revolution (1980s new wave and rock) at 6:30 p.m., with opening act Naomi Laviolette at 5:30 p.m.
At these concerts, Rotarians will gather donations for End Polio Now, an international initiative to eradicate polio. Last year’s concerts raised $7,000 for the cause. Rotary, with help from partner organizations, has been fighting polio worldwide for more than three decades.
As a result of these efforts, the disease is now endemic in just two countries — Afghanistan and Nigeria — and aid teams are working hard to immunize children there and reduce other outbreaks elsewhere. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is matching public donations.
