Club Meeting: Exchange Students’ Experiences

Mattie Quinn and Sabrina Mercer-Rott, both Wilsonville High School students, will discuss their experiences as long-term exchange students. They spent winter and spring of 2023 abroad. Mattie traveled to Trelew, Argentina and Sabrina traveled to South Korea. They attended school and will be sharing some highlights of their ten-month exchange adventure.

Nic Chapin, Principal of Riverside High School, will be presenting an update on the new high school, which he spent over a year planning. Riverside High School opened this fall and is West Linn-Wilsonville’s District’s (WLWV) newest high school. The discussion will include the planning, the vision of the WLWV, and how the first few months are going.

Zoie Wesenberg, Oregon Deputy Director for ODOT Urban Mobility Office, and Heather Wills, National Tolling and Managed Lanes Director at WSP, will discuss how toll collection and congestion pricing works, why congestion pricing is an option, and what is currently happening with congestion pricing with regards to the delay until 2026.

Club Meeting: What Changes with Climate Change

Jeff Rubin, PhD, CEM, will define basic concepts for climate change, discuss current and projected climate-change effects in Oregon and the Pacific NW, and identify potential adaptation actions. Jeff is a (semi-)retired emergency manager in local government and recovering geologist.

Club Meeting: Rotary’s Visit to Colombia

Members of Rotary Club of Wilsonville, Pam Wolfram (Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5100), Jaimy Beltran (Sergeant-At-Arms), and Lauretta MacColman (Rotary Youth Exchange Officer) will discuss their Rotary Visit to Colombia. During the month of September, a team of eight Rotarians (three from the Rotary Club of Wilsonville) traveled to the city of La Plata, Colombia, South America, to help with service projects and participate in cultural exchange. They helped the La Plata Rotarians repair and upgrade the town square for the city of more than 25,000 people.
