The Rotary Club of Wilsonville recently installed its new Board of Directors for 2018-19 at an ceremony and banquet  on June 30. The 40-plus member club will be led over the next 12 months by incoming president, Dr. Laura LaJoie Bishop, a Wilsonville resident and business owner of Joy of Life Chiropractic.

The incoming board members, who live and/or work in Wilsonville, include: Laura LaJoie Bishop, president; Tim Crowley, past-president; Pat Wolfram, president-elect; Richard Martens, treasurer; Bob Harland, director of club administration; Steve Gallier, director of The Rotary Foundation, International Service; Curt Kipp, director of community service; Katie Green, director of membership; Mark Stewart, sergeant at arms; and Di Saunders, director of public relations. The term of the new board runs from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.

Dr. LaJoie, who has served with the Rotary Club of Wilsonville for almost 10 years in total said, “I’m excited about the working with my fellow Rotarians to continue our history of service and engagement throughout the Wilsonville community. We have a busy year ahead, starting with our series of four summer concerts beginning on July 19. My thanks goes out in advance to club members for their commitment; and to the community of Wilsonville for their ongoing support of our many fundraisers that directly benefit and improve our city.”

At the installation ceremony, outgoing club president Tim Crowley recognized two Rotarians for their outstanding service over the past year. Jake McMichael, a club member since 2000, was honored as Rotarian of the Year for his efforts in leading the club’s Scholarship Committee, the highly successful international student exchange program, and coordinating ongoing, lifesaving aid to a club member who had a health crisis. Crowley also gave a President’s Award to Bob Harland, a club member since 2012 (with many years of prior service at other Rotary clubs), for his on-going coordination of the Rotary speakers series and bringing so many top quality speakers into the club for many years.

“It has been an honor to serve with these two Rotarians who have helped our club succeed in its mission of “service above self” over the last year,” said Crowley. “Thank you as well to the entire club for making the past year a memorable one with record fundraising, new members joining the club, and initiatives that advanced our community of Wilsonville.”

The Wilsonville Rotary Foundation, a related 501(c)3 organization that funds the club’s service projects, has its own board that was installed the same evening. That board’s directors include Laura LaJoie Bishop, Tim Crowley, Richard Martens, Jake McMichael, Brad Settlemyer and Eugene Wallace.

Wilsonville Rotarians convene weekly to listen to diverse speakers, hear from local and international exchange students, and engage in the club’s volunteer initiatives. Community members are welcome to join the club for lunch on most Thursdays from noon-1pm, at the current meeting location at Al Kader Shrine Center, 25100 S.W. Parkway Ave., Wilsonville, OR 97070.
